Pain Educate and Prevent Programs

About the Pain Educate and Prevent Programs

We have often been asked by our clients completing our Persistent Pain Program “why didn’t I get referred to you earlier?”

We believe that good pain education in the early stages can prevent persistent pain developing.

Read our blogs on pain Pain Facts 1 Blog , Pain Facts 2 Blog , Pain Facts 3 Blog .

As a result of this and a demand for early intervention, we have developed two brief pain education programs.  The aims are to stop chronicity and encourage recovery.

For Compensable clients, this is paid by Insurance companies for work (RTWSA) and motor vehicle injuries (CTP).

Goals of the Programs

  1. Assist you to view pain as something that can be self-managed and short term.
  2. Educate you in pain science 101 and healing rates – our body is designed to recover!
  3. Help you choose interventions that are proactive such as exercise, life activities and work.
  4. Choose to avoid passive therapy (excessive medication, massage, passive physiotherapy, rest).
  5. Help you identify links between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and to recognise unhelpful patterns.
  6. Prevent pain chronicity.

Working with the Client's Team

We believe in working closely with both the client, their treatment team and their case manager to all agree on the path of rehabilitation and to prevent chronicity.

Prior to the program a client assessment is undertaken and a brief report and treatment plan is sent to all stakeholders.

We will send brief reports via email reading any concerns we have.

We are happy to ring the client’s GP and case manager to discuss any concerns we may have.
