How was Paragon PsychConnect (Helcon Health Pty Ltd) born?
When I decided to move from a sole practitioner (28 years) to a Company which has a team of therapists in 2021, we looked at a name change. We didn’t want to go too far from our previous name of Paragon Psychology, so we asked a designer to come up with a new name and logo.
Paragon PsychConnect was born and our logo was a stylised brain and if you know anything about me and my Therapy Team, we are all about the brain!
Then the easy task of coming up with a name for the Company which would run the behind the scenes stuff….. We thought a combination of my name and my partner’s name but that was a bit too Brangelina for us!
We eventually settled on naming our health company after our two cats, Helly (Helios) and Conan.
Helly was named after the ancient Greek God, Helios who was the titan god and personification of the Sun. And Conan is self-explanatory – he was named after Conan the Barbarian, a hero of mystic proportions who cut a bloody swathe through the history of Hyborea.
We were expecting our beautiful cats to live up to their namesakes, Helly (Siamese) to be a sunny temperament cat and Conan (Abyssinian) to be a warrior. Instead we got Helly – dummy spitter extraordinaire, who wouldn’t talk to us for hours if he was upset with a perceived slight or constant back-chatting and Conan – a complete and total Gentleman.
However, what was important to us was that they made a spectacular Team.
They came into our home on the same day and spent every day until Helly’s death at age 11, cuddled together and sharing everything – they were rarely sitting/sleeping alone.
We could not have wished for a better duo and together with us we made a Team of 4. Helly gravitated to me as his slave (don’t know what that says about me….) and Conan to my partner Tony who proceeded to train Conan to eat every flavour of yogurt under the sun. We have had cats and other animals before and they have all been family, but the way this duo worked together was unprecedented.
So, the Company behind Paragon PsychConnect is Helcon Health Pty Ltd in memory of our beautiful cats and fur babies (Conan is still going strong and we hope to have him for many years yet).
Our hope is that our Health Team works as well as our Cat Team did and while Angela, our Office Manager on some days may feel that she is herding cats, we hope she doesn’t blame the name on this!
