Confessions of an Office Manager with a LEGO Obsession
Our therapy office environment is brought to life by Angela’s passion for LEGO creations and lush greenery, creating comfort before a word is even spoken.
If you’ve stepped into the Paragon PsychConnect reception area, you’ve probably wondered:
“Am I in a psychology clinic... or did I accidentally wander into a boutique plant nursery during a LEGO convention?”
Spoiler alert: You’re in the right place.
I’m Angela — Office Manager, Plant Whisperer, and LEGO Architect Extraordinaire. And yes, I take full responsibility for what has affectionately become known as “The Jungle.”
Why the Plants?
Let’s face it — walking into a therapy appointment can be nerve-wracking. So instead of confronting fluorescent lights and beige walls (yawn), I figured: why not create a miniature rainforest where nerves can chill out before your session?
Our leafy friends are more than decoration. Studies show that greenery lowers cortisol levels and boosts mood — but I didn’t need science to tell me that. I just knew that when a Monstera plant waves its glossy little leaf at you, everything feels a bit more okay.
Plus, the plants don’t judge. They just grow and vibe.
And the LEGO?
Now, onto my not-so-secret hobby: LEGO building.

What started as a “small display” has … evolved. There are Minions. There are dragons. There’s a Millennium Falcon lurking near the printer. Children gaze at them in awe. Adults whisper, “Oh my god, is that Hogwarts?”
Why LEGO? Because therapy doesn’t have to start the moment you sit on the couch. Sometimes it starts the moment you walk in the door and your inner child says, "Look! LEGO!" It’s grounding. It’s playful. It’s an invitation to breathe.
What’s the Point?
I’m not just here to book your appointments and point you to the coffee and tea station (though, I do make a mean cup of peppermint). I’m here to help set the tone — to make Paragon PsychConnect a space that feels safe, warm, and just a little magical.
Because mental health is serious business — but your waiting experience doesn’t have to be.
And if it means planting another fern or sourcing rare, retired LEGO sets from mysterious corners of the internet … I’m all in.
So next time you visit, take a moment to look around. Spot the new plant. Guess the latest LEGO addition. Or just sit, and let your shoulders drop before your session starts.
You’ve got this — and I’ve got the jungle.

P.S. Clients start their therapy session in reception with Angela and are relaxed by the time they come in and see us!
P.S.S. And if they are lucky, they will also see Frankie for a pat (he is the cute one).
